I founded NEXA HR on a clear belief that effective HR has the power to improve not just businesses, but the lives of the people within them and the communities they support.

With over ten years of experience working across Devon and Cornwall, I bring a strong understanding of the challenges regional businesses face. Having supported sectors including hospitality and manufacturing, I know how to balance real operational pressures with the need to build strong, sustainable people practices.

My approach is grounded in continuous improvement and long term impact. I focus on practical, incremental changes that strengthen businesses over time. I do not believe in off the shelf solutions. Every organisation is different, so I design services around your needs and priorities, with flexibility built in and budgets that work for you.

I also recognise that the workforce has fundamentally changed. For the first time, five generations are working side by side, creating both opportunity and complexity. Rising turnover, skills shortages and shifting expectations are now everyday challenges for leaders. I work with businesses to bring structure, clarity and consistency, turning that complexity into a strength that supports both performance and culture.

Hi, I’m Vanessa the founder and Director of NEXA HR.

I’m a HR professional with over a decade of experience across various sectors. I’ve been fortunate to work across multinational, global, FTSE 50 companies, and SMEs. This mix has given me a grounded, practical view of how people, culture, and capability really drive performance, regardless of business size, something I wanted to be sure transcended through my own business via my pricing structure.

Whilst I have worked across sectors, I’ve spent large chunks of my career in manufacturing and hospitality. These are two areas I’m especially passionate about. Both bring so much to our local communities and economies, and I care deeply about supporting them to grow, adapt, and thrive. I know the pressures that businesses are faced with in the current day and can offer practical HR support to help manage costs, retain and develop talent, strengthen leadership, and build resilient, future-ready workforces that can navigate change with confidence.

I grew up in Exeter, moved between ski seasons abroad and summers back in the South West, and eventually settled where my heart feels happiest, in Truro with my family, including three cats and a dog.

The South West has a certain magic to it, and I feel very lucky to call it home. It felt right to align my purpose and vision for NEXA HR, with supporting businesses in this region in a way that feels grounded, meaningful, and values led. To recognise this I’ve consciously chosen to align NEXA to B Corp principles and the belief that business should be a force for good.

I believe that HR is heart of the workplace. What it encompasses touch employees, culture, and experience every day. The heart is also a big powerful organ, and when it goes wrong, the impact can be catastrophic. The impact of how you do HR really matters, it shapes how people feel, how they grow, and how they belong. And that influence doesn’t stop your at today’s workforce; it carries forward into real commercial impact, that sustains you for future generations.
